Back From Thailand for a Live TV Abseil

Back in Bristol after 30 hours of travel from Thailand over New Year’s Eve – and straight into preparing for a live TV abseil.

So I’ve just got back from Thailand after 30 hours of travelling over new years eve and enjoyed raising a glass at Bangkok airport at the stroke of midnight. Something a bit different this year one could say for NYE. Arriving back in Bristol in the poring rain, mist and the cold was a bit of a shock. A jet lagged sleep and my phone rang at 9am – it was the BBC wanting info about a live T.V. abseil for the ‘The One Show’. Of course happy to help but my brain could barely string words together to form sentences so i was glad to be invited down to BBC HQ in London on the following day. So today i met the ‘One Show Team’ and made a plan for next Wednesday night when Andy Torbet a fellow climber who i have worked with many times shall do a live T.V. abseil at the end of ‘The One Show’. Let keep our fingers crossed as I’ve never had the pressure of my T.V. and Film safety work being live for all to see but i am sure i will be fine and Andy too. Please put the date in your diary and lets hope it looks super duppa.

I run Malvern Hills Trail Half Marathon on 25 April - it was my first ever race and it was such a beautiful event! I would definitely recommend Dave adventure events to everyone, the route was lovely and the organisation was amazing!

My first trail half for over 15 years, and what a day for it. Glorious sunshine, fantastic route and a well organised run, aid stations etc etc. Friendly local feel. Some very steep sections; def worth carrying poles, for me, age 66⅞. All told, a very positive experience. Thank you.

A really enjoyable race over beautiful Malvern Hills countryside. Well organised communications beforehand and on the day. It was my first trail race and all the information was provided plenty in advance with tips on how to download gps trail. Well marked on the day with water stations throughout. Had a great day out with Karl, one of Dave's team. We did a full day of sport leading as part of a refresher for me and my wife. Karl was kind, attentive and adapted the day to suit our ability and need. He also offered some great resources for continued learning. I'd recommend for anyone looking to jump from indoor lead to sport outdoor (and well beyond). We'll be back for something wintry at some point I'm sure!
