NATIONAL 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE

The National 3 Peaks Challenge is climbing the highest mountains in the UK from each of the three countries, in under 24 hours. In England we’ll climb Scafell Pike, in Scotland Ben Nevis and in Wales, Snowdon.

It can be accomplished in a day or if you prefer a more sedate pace, over 3 days, climbing one mountain per day. Whatever timescale you aim for, enjoying and completing the challenge is the important thing, as it involves lots of driving and traffic can slow your time. The National 3 Peaks Challenge is a classic challenge event that works well travelling from north to south or from south to north. This adventure event can be done with a group of friends, a business team building event or by a charity looking to raise money.

This is a 24 hour challenge to climb Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1344m), Scafell Pike, in England (978m) and Snowdon, in Wales (1085m).

Pick up on the Friday morning is usually at 9:30 am at Chester train station. Another option is flying to Glasgow and getting picked up there at around 4 pm. The drop off point is usually Chester (at around midday on the Sunday) but we can arrange others on request. The price per person is £380 and includes:
  • Private 17 seater mini bus and trailer for luggage
  • Mountain guide for the challenge
  • Hotel accommodation based on twin room sharing
  • Breakfast on the morning of the challenge
  • Event logistics and support
  • Detailed kit lists
  • £10 million event insurance
  • Media package of your event

Another challenge that is similar is the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge or the Snowdonia 10 Peak Challenge

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

All of the guides were extremely supportive and had the groups best interest at the forefront of everything we did, they were also very knowledgeable about the mountains and what lay ahead of us. This is the first time we have used Dave but definitely not the last!

CC Projects

Highly recommended 🙂 Dave was a great guide, super fun and a good photographer too, capturing all the best bits of our expedition.

Ms A Challans

Just completed a 10 peak Brecon Beacons adventure with Dave and his team and had a great experience. Feeling it now, it’s was a great challenge and superbly organised! Would recommend, a very professional outfit.

S Ross

What an epic day. Dave gave us an amazing day on Wintours leap. We covered more than I could have hoped. Dave understood exactly what our objectives of the day were, excellent value for money. Dave was the most professional, and clearly knew his stuff. I’d definitely look to Dave for guiding in the alps, Scotland, wales or elsewhere. Thanks Dave for an excellent day

Awesome adventure!! I went on the Mount Toubkal trek and cannot recommend it enough! Did 4 peaks in 2 days with Dave and the group. Him and Robyn Taught us how to use crampons and ice axes at the start and continually offered guidance where necessary. A great mix of a fun holiday and a challenging adventure!!

J Patterson

Dave is an excellent guide with a deep knowledge of the mountains. He not only helped us reach the 4 x 4000m peaks that we wanted, but did so whilst keeping a huge smile on everyone’s face. I would happily go on any of Dave’s trips again and would recommend him to anyone who is interested in a trip out to the Atlas mountains or any climbing excursion.

Brilliant trek across the Brecon Beacons 10 Peak Challenge. Excellent organisation, really friendly, supportive and knowledgeable guides. Perfect group size and challenging but steady pace… what’s not to like? Highly recommend!

R Philips

Thank you to all of you for putting on such a great well organised event. The Malvern trail half was a wild incredible adventure. All the organisers were brilliant and a special thank you to the man collecting the flags in , he really motivated us and made it a more enjoyable experience. Breathtaking views and a very emotional experience. The hardest and best half I have ever done. Thanks very highly recommend.

C Cane

Dave’s our “guide for life”. He’s brought us up and down mount toubkal, we have plans for elbrus, he does local bristol climbing on the avon gorge, welsh 3000s, trail marathons. If you want to have steady fun, get hooked up with his group.

G Comeau

Dave and Robyn guided a group of us to four 4000+m peaks in the Atlas Mountains, including Toubkal – the highest in North Africa. They were always full of energy and continually kept the team motivated. You were never in doubt that they were fully prepared for all eventualities, using ropes when required and even having a foam roller for those of us with tight muscles!
On top of this, they were always teaching us important mountain skills, with demonstrations and giving everyone the chance to practice these skills in a safe and fun but relevant environment. I also thought they were excellent at tailoring the experience to different peoples wants and needs. A personal example: i was keen to learn more about ice-climbing. Dave had clearly noted this and took the time to discuss extra ice-axe techniques with me, even hanging out by a frozen waterfall at the end of a long day to teach me a few skills in-depth! Without a doubt my favourite adventure holiday of the year – i’m already looking to book another one with Dave in the New year!

Highly recommended.

Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England at 978 metres (3,209 ft) above sea level. It is located in the Lake District National Park and there are many routes to the summit from all directions, giving lots of options. Due to its location, Scafell Pike is always the middle mountain on the National 3 Peaks Challenge, regardless of starting point.

SNOWDON – 1085m

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is the highest mountain in Wales, at 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) and the highest point in the British Isles outside of Scotland. ACCOMMODATION

Our typical itinerary means you’ll be staying in a comfortable hotel based on sharing a room with one of the other challenge participants. Our guides will stay in the same accommodation so that you can have a group briefing, a meal out together and ask any questions about your 3 Peaks Challenge event.

We recommend the National 3 Peaks Itinerary Option One – this is much more pleasant experience of the mountains and the challenge. You’ll have a night out in Fort William and get a chance to meet / chat with your group and leader.
