TRIGLAV 2864 m
Triglav is the highest summit in Slovenia at 2864 metres. It is also the highest summit in the Julian Alps. This trip is a rare chance to sample some of the best that Slovenia has to offer in a short space of time. You can swim in the beautiful Lake Bled, climb the highest mountain and explore a historic capital city, all in a long weekend.
We also offer mountain guiding on the huge north face of Mt Triglav. This is done in a maximum ratio of 1:2, as the rock climbing is a mile long and requires previous climbing skills, knowledge and experience. Get in touch for more information on the north face climb.
NEXT SLOVENIA TRIP DATES: Private trips on request
Triglav 4 day trip: This is an action packed trip designed to get the most out of your time off. You’ll stay in the picturesque town of Bled, in a high mountain hut on Triglav 2864 m and in the historic old city of Ljubljana. Triglav is the highest summit in Slovenia. Although Triglav is not as high as some of its alpine neighbours, this peak makes up for that in interest. The path to the summit involves exciting scrambling sections throughout. Via ferrata equipment will be worn and your guide will explain how to use this. You don’t need to be an experienced rock climber to enjoy this trip but good all round fitness, plus a head for heights is required.
Triglav North Face Climbing: The north face of Triglav is huge at over a mile high. The rock climbing on this face requires considerable fitness and a good knowledge of traditional climbing techniques. I’ve written an article about climbing the north face of Triglav – click here to find out more.

TRIGLAV TRIP ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Arrive – Transfer to Bled – Equipment sort – Stay in Bled
You’ll meet your mountain guide and take a transfer to the picturesque town of Bled. Relax and take a swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Bled, explore the sights and even try wine tasting.
That evening we’ll have a briefing for the following few days. You’ll sort your equipment and pack for the Triglav ascent.
DAY 2 – Transfer to Triglav base – Hike to Kredarica mountain hut (2515 m)
After breakfast we’ll sort the final equipment and take a transfer to the base of Triglav. A 6 hour walk will take us from the car park to the mountain hut that we’re staying in for the evening. This day is truly stunning; there are fine views of the north face of Triglav and of the inspiring valley either side. The climb to the hut is via the Tominsek Route. This is a good via ferrata/scramble in itself, and it’s an exciting way of gaining height. That night you’ll stay at the high mountain hut near the summit of Triglav.
DAY 3 – Summit Triglav – Hike to mountain base – Transfer to Ljubljana – Explore Ljubljana – Group Meal
After breakfast at the Triglav hut. We’ll make our way to the summit of the highest mountain in Slovenia, Triglav, via scrambling and climbing sections. The route is well marked and because of our stay in the high altitude hut we will bag the summit in good time. After summitting Triglav 2864 m, we’ll descend via the Prag route to the base of the mountain. This is a different route from our ascent, so that we enjoy a circular journey.
A 1.5 hour transfer from the base of Triglav will see us arriving in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital. With plenty of time to spare, you’ll enjoy the culture of this historic dragon city. We can have a meal and drinks out with the group (optional), and then free time to explore the old town. You can visit the castle, the botanical gardens, walk over the dragon bridge or possibly take a boat cruise on Ljubljanica river.
DAY 4 – Transfer to the airport – Depart – Optional extra days as required
In the morning, we will transfer from the hotel to the airport and depart. You can extend your holiday and explore Ljubljana some more if you wish. You can visit the old town, go wine tasting, enjoy a tour of the castle or the botanical gardens.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
What an epic day. Dave gave us an amazing day on Wintours leap. We covered more than I could have hoped. Dave understood exactly what our objectives of the day were, excellent value for money. Dave was the most professional, and clearly knew his stuff.
Dave and his team hosted Noah’s Ark Charity Dangle event Sunday 16th October 2016 from Newport Transporter Bridge and we couldn’t have picked a better team of instructors to help us..
All of the guides were extremely supportive and had the groups best interest at the forefront of everything we did, they were also very knowledgeable about the mountains and what lay ahead of us. This is the first time we have used Dave but definitely not the last!
Dave and Robyn guided a group of us to four 4000+m peaks in the Atlas Mountains, including Toubkal – the highest in North Africa. They were always full of energy and continually kept the team motivated. You were never in doubt that they were fully prepared for all eventualities, using ropes when required and even having a foam roller for those of us with tight muscles! On top of this, they were always teaching us important mountain skills, with demonstrations and giving everyone the chance to practice these skills in a safe and fun but relevant environment. I also thought they were excellent at tailoring the experience to different peoples wants and needs.
Without a doubt my favourite adventure holiday of the year – i’m already looking to book another one with Dave in the New year!
Highly recommended 🙂 Dave was a great guide, super fun and a good photographer too, capturing all the best bits of our expedition.
The best rock climbing instruction I’ve ever had. Extremely clear and engaging.
I just wanted to add that the quality of instruction was actually more than excellent! I learned loads of things that were very empowering and challenging, while always feeling very safe and in a friendly atmosphere. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed my day. Many thanks to Dave!
I will happily tell all my friends that it is one of the best things I have ever had the good fortune to do.
Dave, was excellent. He manages to combine an inspirational passion for climbing with very knowledgeable advice and instruction and an unerring eye for safety.
It has been an amazing experience. A gigantic sincere Thank you to Dave for his care, effort and lovely sense of humor! He made us really happy.
Just wanted to pass on my thanks for a fantastic abseiling service from you guys yesterday. The feedback from all was what a professional and warmhearted company you are and even the very fearful felt safe and cared for and thanked you for your patience and reassurance.
It would be an understatement to say the Abberley Hall Clock Tower Abseil event exceeded my expectations.
