Finally after a long stint of work around Europe i have managed to get out for a day in Avon Gorge rock climbing again. I have just worked a month in a row without a day off and on the way back from Newquay i squeezed a quick route in at Roche Rocks – one of the most unique crags in the country.
The next day i was climbing with Sarah Jane on the Suspension Bridge Buttress in Avon Gorge. This is one of the best crags in the world. Above the road, a little quieter then the normal Avon Gorge and with non-quarried lime stone, great gear and steeper than most. Fantastic stuff.
We did a quick session ticking Suspension Bridge Arete, Baby Duck and Hell Gates in one pitch. All some of the best routes in Avon Gorge.
The next day i went with Robyn to Cheddar Gorge and did four 6b’s and two laps of Cheddar Gorge hill on the road bike. Now off to Kalymnos working for Rock and Sun over the next few weeks.
See you out there.
