Headed out to Wintours Leap today to start getting some training in before the summer and have some fun trad climbing. Even though it’s only the 28th March I managed to bag 9 E-Points, not too bad I guess for an early season effort.
Started out on âPapillonâ E2 5b, a lovely E2 arete with a great finish and low in the grade a good warm up route. Next came âA fly in the eyeâ E3 5c a long pitch with nice moves on steep rock, a pitch that in years gone I had fallen off. Finally âEclipticâ E1 5b was another that Iâve not done before and if I’m to be honest its not the best but if you can just do the top pitch then its worth while.
Iâve wanted to do âSplit Fliesâ for a while now and thought why not give it a go, at E3 6a itâs not the hardest thing in the world but its also no staircase. Itâs only really 10m of hard climbing but it sure does pack punch. If you like short sharpe lay back moves with little for your feet then this is a classic!! After finishing the last route and topping out at the bags, it was time to sit down enjoy the view before heading home.
Another great day at Wintours Leap and 9 more E-Points to add to the list.
