Just got back into the Outward Bound Trust where for the next few weeks i will be working. This weekend saw some amazing weather over the park and a chance to get out and stretch the legs and meet up with some friendly foke from Bristol. We all met in The Vaynol Arms pub on Friday night to drink beer and discuss the options. The weather was boltic and scrambling seemed like a good idea to keep the group moving and to get some views of the range.
Bochlwyd horseshoe in my opinion is one of the best days out in Snowdonia. It has it all. From the road you head up the north ridge of Tryfan which kicks in from the word go with lots of spice added in at will. If you get the right line you can pop up and stride upon the ‘cannon stone’ and grab a picture.
The scrambling is continually interesting and you pick your way up to the summit and the famous Adam and Eve stones and another challenge of the jump between them. Once you’ve taken in the views and had some lunch you descend to then head up Bristly Ridge for more excitement. Steep chimneys, weaving through pinnacles leads you onto the summit of Glyder Fach 994m and views of the Snowdon. A short walk brings you too the top of Gribin Ridge where you can descend and make for the car park.
The next day we went out to Boulder and headed up to Wave Length boulder but after a few pulls and some grunts it was decided that this was way to cold and headed off to the sunny and warm RAC boulders. This was much better and the team started to rattle around the crag storming up the routes. After some time and loss of skin the day was done and it was time to drive away and thank north wales for its existence. If you fancy Scrambling or bouldering in north wales get in touch.
