Its too bloody early, i am tired, my kit’s wet and I’ve just slept in a random pub car park near Manchester airport and my stomach feels like a volcano from last nights pub meal and now i want decorate their car park with my disappointment. I didn’t and instead manned up and headed to the airport ready to fly, ready for a trad tan to be proud of.
It is difficult when writing about something that could and should take up thousands of words of descriptions, adventures and travels but this is my blog and i am limited on time but what i will say right now is that ‘Morocco Anti-Atlas Trad Climbing is Awesome’. Yes that’s right.
Flying into Agadir is easy picking up the hire care – straight forward, bamm and we’re off. Our Dacia Logan (hire car) was superb, nothing flash and with a big ground clearance which was going to be important for getting some serious off-roading miles in later. We drove for a few hours, saw some camels, took some photos and got to our accommodation. A fortress, a kasbah.
Keen, tired and ready we drove the next day to crag at the end of what can only be described as a good Dakar Rally stage, 15 miles of bumps, mud and nerves of damaging the car. We got to the crag in the Samarrza Valley and booted it up a HVS to start and then moved onto a E1 which was more like E2 but both great routes, 3 stars and worth every penny. As the light of our first day started to fade we descended the ridge that took us back to the foot of the cliff, picking up our bag we realised that we were going to be very late back and would upset our hotel owners and have to drive the off-road section at night to make it more fun.
