Today was wet, cold and very windy. Yesterday it snowed. Tomorrow is due to be more wet with a twist of wind – ace. I am working at Outward Bound in north Wales with a year 6 primary school group. I haven’t worked with a primary school group for ages and i was a little bit apprehensive but it turns out they are a great bunch and i have been moulding them into the world’s best fighting force – the British army better be scared as there are ten 11 year old’s that can work well as a team!!
Yesterday was great walking up through the wooded snow covered tracks getting the groups to identify different trees, leaves, navigating there way to a log cabin where we made a fire, boiled some water and made hot chocolate. Today a took them to Barnmouth slabs and got them scrambling, bouldering, improvised abseiling and climbing, unbelievable effort put in from the group. We finished the day with some team tasks and the last 20 mins of the film the “Hobit” showing them that anything is possible if you stand up and be brave.
