Just got back in very early Sunday morning from working out in Kalymnos for the past 18 days. All you need to know about Kalymnos…………………awesome. Everyday the weather man has an easy job “32 degrees and sunny people”, it hadn’t rained since May 12th, what a difference to the UK where we’ve been flooded and kalymnos has been covered in dust all summer. It started with a bitch of drive at 1am to get to Gatwick and then the all day travel that i takes to get out there. Plane, Taxi, Boat, Taxi, some time waiting and boom your there.

Some mate of mine were on the island and i had 2 days before having to head back to the airport to pick up the clients for the first week, so i managed to get a few warm up climbs in. Nothing too hard up to 6c+ but it felt great to be climbing on good rock and getting used to the heat. As far as i am concerned Telendos, the island just off Kalymnos is the place to be. There are new routes being put up there all the time, forget Grande Grotto, Telendos has Princess Cave and many more that Grande Grotto look like a training ground for the weak and what’s even better the day starts with a boat journey that just adds to adventure. I had 2 weeks of clients and they were two very different groups, week 1 was all about pushing the grade and early nights, week 2 was all about pushing the grade and how much beer you can drink, nice. That said we got loads of climbing at diffrent crags and even some Deep Water Soloing done.

Both weeks were great and everyone pushed there grade up by 3 or 4 notches ie if your were climbing 6a at the start of the week by the end you were climbing 6b – 6b+, which as a climbing coach i was happy with. Next year i will be out there for 3 weeks rock climbing guiding in Kalymnos so if your interested then get in touch. Now back in the UK i have 5 days in which to move house. Picking up the keys to the new place today at 1pm and tomorrow i am off to Mallorca for 8 days climbing out there, so 24 hours in which to move in and get settled………………..challenge on. I think i need a Mythos.
