Just got back in to the UK from Kalymnos this morning at 3am. We just had a 10 day trip but got up a few good routes and had some fun. The weather was a bit broken for Kalymnos, a few days of storms, some big seas and high winds meant that crag selection was important. We did have a lot of sunshine and rock dried out quickly and we climbed every day and for sure i felt like a tired little badger by the end.
The Greeks have their Easter at a different time to us due to there calendar. It was a chance to razz around the island on a scooter and get a look at all the party mayhem and there tradition of throwing dynamite.
All the rock routes that we did were tip top and its hard to say they have any bad routes its just up to your taste but i think that Irox on Tenlendos is worth a visit and its surround crags that are being developed and also Arhi was another trip highlight. One route in on Telendos a 9 pitch 6a+ was much fun. Starting early and getting first on the route and with the only worry of there there being goats on one of the ledges knocking stones down, the route went well and i recommend it as a simple route with good belays and amazing views.
