Spent a great day in Bristol rock climbing today with Steve Winslow. Blasted up Central Buttress a three star E1 and did the E1 finish to the second pitch. Then after that and some computer work this morning, i went up to Leigh Woods, switched on Strava and went about setting a lap time on the circuit of Leigh Woods – i posted a time of 12 mins 10 seconds putting me just outside of the top 100 riders out of a lot. I tried to brake my time on the second lap but failed by 14 seconds, next time faster.  Considering i am on a jump / freeride bike that weights a ton i am pretty happy with that time, i think i can shave another 30 seconds off due to line and mistakes but the rest will need a lighter bike and bigger, fitter legs – 2 minutes to knock off to get the record. Anyway good route in Bristol rock climbing, lets go climbing more.

The next day we went back and got another quick route in the same area this time we did Diamond Groove which is given HVS 5b and its every bit worth E1 5b if any of the other routes in the area are to go by. In the new guide book coming out in 2016 i would hope to see this route get a star as the climbing was good.

Over the past week i have drawn up a list of obscure Bristol rock climbing routes to do and in the coming months i want to tick them off and report back in. All fo the routes that i have drawn up don’t have any stars, are not popular and have difficult access issues – cool.
